Donnchadh Mc Ginley

“I am an artist with a deep-rooted passion for creating work that evokes a sense of place and presence. My artistic journey began at a young age, nurtured by a family of artists and educators who instilled in me a love for creativity and expression. I studied Art at Dún Laoghaire Institute, where I specialized in Fine Art Print, with a particular focus on etching and woodblock printing. During this time, I immersed myself in the techniques and philosophies of Japanese woodblock printmakers, whose influence continues to resonate in my work.

Drawing inspiration from both the modernist and impressionist movements, I strive to capture the essence of the present moment in my oil and acrylic paintings. Much like the sumi-e prints of Japan, I aim to distill the feeling of “being there” into each piece, creating art that is not only visually compelling but also emotionally evocative.

My practice is a fusion of traditional techniques and contemporary perspectives, reflecting my belief that art should connect us to the world around us. Whether through the intricate lines of a woodblock print or the vibrant strokes of a painting, I hope to invite viewers to pause, reflect, and feel a sense of place within my work.

Thank you for visiting my site and sharing in my artistic journey.”
